Alongside the midwifery training school MHCD also runs a technical college. Professional training in any field is not an option for many students in the communities served by MHCD, but trade skills are a very attractive alternative. These skills are urgently required in many fields and trade school graduates can easily secure employment. This is a new initiative and covers training in the electrical trades, tailoring, building and plumbing.
There are currently 500 students many of whom were orphans.
The cost of supporting a student at technical college is $300USD per year or about $400 AUD.
